Disney World’s new FastPass+ replacement will take more planning… and money
In a few weeks, the new planning tool, Disney Genie, will be available in the My Disney Experience app for Walt Disney World. Some new features guests can get for free, and some rides will be included in Disney Genie+ at an extra cost.
Disney Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selections are two for-purchase add-ons guests can opt to buy, intended to save you more time in the Parks and get the most out of your day.
Previously we gave you an overview of Disney Genie, also starting October 19th, there will be two new ways to “skip the line” at attractions throughout all four theme parks. These new services, known as Disney Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selection, will replace the former FastPass+ service and will provide guests who purchase it with access to new Lightning Lanes – previously known as the old FastPass lanes.
Disney Genie+ will allow users to select one attraction at a time to book for the Lightning Lane. The Disney Genie+ selections will all be made day-of being in the park. All users can make their first Genie+ selection starting at 7AM on the day-of use.
Disney Genie+ will cost $15 per day, per ticket at Walt Disney World. The service will cost $20 per day, per ticket at Disneyland Resort.
At Walt Disney World, over 40 attractions will be available for Disney Genie+ reservations. At Disneyland Resort, over 15 attractions will be included in Genie+.
The second for-purchase add-on will be Individual Lightning Lane Attraction Selections. This option will allow users to make advance selections for Lightning Lane rides and attractions. Users will schedule a time to arrive for up to two popular attractions per day.
These popular attractions will not be available in Disney Genie+, so if the most popular rides are on your must-do list, you may want to consider this add-on. Individual Lightning Lane Attraction Selections will vary in price depending on the date, attraction, and Park.
Here is a list of individual attraction selections:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Magic Kingdom
- Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT
- Frozen Ever After in EPCOT
- Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Flight of Passage in Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Expedition Everest in Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Each ride will cost a different amount, but Disney has announced that the maximum pricing for Individual Attraction Selections will be $15 per person, per ride. It’s important to keep in mind that this cost will change throughout the year.
An example provided by Disney shows that Expedition Everest will cost $7 per person, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will cost $10-$12 per person, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will cost $9-$11 per person, and Rise of the Resistance will cost $15 per person when the service initially rolls out.
